Happy Friday Realmers!
Just wanted to give you all a little update from behind the veil to let you in on the inner workings of Aphotic Realm.
The buzz for Aphotic Realm seems to be getting louder as more and more submissions come in everyday. This is wonderful! We are so excited to see your submissions!
We've also been trying new things. Tales From the Realm was very well received and while Grimdark Grimoires was already on our roadmap, the way was easily travelled. We have more anthologies like Grimdark planned and will be announcing them soon.
With that buzz and growth, in combination with trying new things, we've been struggling at times to keep everything balanced while maintaining the same level of dedication and quality product you all are used to receiving from us.
With that said, we've brought on a new Assistant Editor!
Meet Mike Durst, Assistant Editor!
Mike Durst was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. At a young age, Mike instantly fell in love with video games thanks to the NES and Genesis while also having a rooting interest in sports. He quickly developed a taste for the fantasy world thanks to games like Final Fantasy and movies like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. He graduated from The University of Akron in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media Communication and quickly developed a taste for editing.
Mike moved around a bit after his time in Ohio, spending some time in Minnesota before moving to where he resides now in Bradenton, Florida. When he isn't working his day job or fending off hurricanes or alligators, he likes to take in a good fantasy novel or the latest PS4 game to add to his ever growing list of games he doesn’t have time to play.
Welcome to the team, Mike!
With Mike on board, we are hoping to whittle down the ever growing pile of submissions to our General Submission Pool.
I love getting to share this kind of news with you guys!
I have one final note as I wrap up this edition of Behind the Outer Realm.
We are looking to ramp up our Review Corner. We release content here and there. My original goal for the Review Corner was to release book, tv, or movie reviews once a week or bi-weekly. That obviously hasn't been the case.
If any of you out there reading this would like to write reviews for our Review Corner, OR perhaps you have your own review blog but would be interested in doing a guest piece (with cross advertising) please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have a lot more on the horizon. Stay Strange.
